Neelamperur Padayani is an annual festival organized to display the ritual, art and majesty of Padayani. Conducted at the beautiful precincts of the Bhagavathy temple near Kottayam, the festival witnesses the participation of devotees from different regions. Dancers wearing huge headdresses entertain the crowds with dance performed on the rhymth of cyambal, spirited singing and chends drums. As night falls, amidst drum beats and clanging Cymbals, devotees take out a procession carrying effigies of legendary characters towards Bhagavathy temple to symbolize Padayani's victory over Darika.
