Fortis Mutual Fund came into being, with effect from 10th November 2008, after the management of the mutual fund was transferred to 'Fortis Investment Management (India) Pvt Ltd'. It was earlier known as ABN AMRO Mutual Fund, initially promoted by ABN AMRO Bank. The transfer took place after the global integration of ABN AMRO Asset Management with Fortis Investments, in the second quarter of 2008.
After the merger of Fortis Investments and ABN AMRO Mutual Funds, the former became one of the leading asset managers in the world, in terms of size as well as investment offering. Having enhanced its investment capabilities and operational platforms, Fortis Investments has managed to gain widespread reach in Europe, huge presence in the Americas and a strong position in Asia. Presently, it boasts of a global network of 40 dedicated investment centers, spread over 30 countries.
