  • For the Dough:
  • 500 ml Milk (lukewarm)
  • 50 gm Yeast
  • 1 Egg
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 100 gm Butter
  • 1 kg All-Purpose Flour (Maida)

    For the Filling:
  • 1 White Cabbage (cored & shredded)
  • Water as required
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 50 gm Butter
  • 3 tbsp Molasses
  • ½ tsp White Pepper (ground)

    For the Glazing:
  • 1 Egg (beaten)
  • 1 tsp Sesame Seeds
How to make Cabbage Pie:
  • Heat butter in a pan and fry cabbage on low flame until soft.
  • Stir in molasses, salt & white pepper.
  • Take yeast with milk in a bowl and mix well. Mix in egg with salt.
  • Pour into half flour and knead it well. Put in butter with sufficient flour and knead into soft dough. Then keep it covered with towel for 30 min.
  • Flour a board and lay on the dough. Knead it for 2-3 min and divide into two portions.
  • Spread out the dough portions into 2 thin sheets using rolling pin. Lay one sheet in a baking tray and pour over cabbage mixture.
  • Top up with another sheet and seal the ends.
  • Dig holes on the top using fork and keep it covered with towel for 15-20 min.
  • Brush over egg and add on sesame seeds. Bake it at 200°C for 40 min.
  • Serve it hot with tea or coffee.
