Ingredients:
  • 2 cups dried Brown Lentils (rinsed and drained)
  • 3 cups Chicken Stock
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 cup Carrots (chopped)
  • 1 cup Celery (chopped)
  • 1 cup Onion (chopped)
  • 1 cup Ham (cooked and cubed)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • ¼ tsp Nutmeg (freshly grated)
  • 5 drops Hot Pepper Sauce
  • ¼ tsp Caraway Seed
  • ½ tsp Celery Salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh Parsley (chopped)
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper (ground)
How to make German Lentil Soup:
  • Place a 5 to 6 quart slow cooker on heat and combine lentils, chicken stock, bay leaf, carrots, celery, onion and ham.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, nutmeg, hot pepper sauce, caraway seeds, parsley and black pepper.
  • Cover the cooker and cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours.
  • Remove the bay leaf.
  • Ladle into soup bowls and serve hot.
