  • 1 cup Rice (rinsed and soaked for 30 min)
  • 1 tbsp red Lentils
  • 1 small Onion (sliced)
  • 1½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Chili Powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ½ tsp Curry Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 8-10 Peppercorns
  • 2 small pieces Cinnamon
  • 2 Black Cardamoms
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander (chopped)
  • 2 green Chilies (chopped)
  • 1½ L Water
  • 1½ tbsp Oil
How to make Khichri Masoor Ni:
  • Boil the rice and dal together until rice is tender and dal can be smashed properly with all spices except cumin seeds. It should not be thick.
  • Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. When seeds become golden, fry the onion in it. Add this to the boiled rice- dal and simmer for a while.
  • Serve with yoghurt.
