  • 1 ½ cup Raw Rice (preferably Basmati rice)
  • 1 tbsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Broken Urad Dal
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera (Cumin Seeds)
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 pinch Asafetida
  • 4 Curry Leaves
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 3-4 Cashew Nuts
How to make Milagu Rice:
  • Wash and cook the raw rice and allow it to cool in a wide mouth vessel.
  • Add a little ghee and separate the grains
  • Roast black pepper, urad dal in a frying pan until it turns light brown.
  • Grind fried pepper and urad dal into a fine powder.
  • Heat oil in the same pan, crackle mustard seeds, add turmeric powder, jeera and a pinch of asafetida and curry leaves to it.
  • Now add the powdered ingredients, salt and mix well.
  • Add this mixture to the cooked rice. Fry the cashew nuts in the ghee and mix thoroughly.
Serve it hot.
