  • 3 tbsp Moong Dal
  • 3 tbsp Urad Dal
  • 3 tbsp Tuvar Dal
  • 3 tbsp Chana Dal
  • ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
  • A pinch of Asafetida
  • ½ cup Onions, diced
  • 2 Tomatoes, diced
  • 1 inch Ginger, chopped
  • 2 Green Chilies, chopped
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • ¼ tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • ¼ tsp Garam Masala
  • 3-1/2 cup Water
  • Ghee to fry
  • Salt to taste
How to make Mixed Dal:
  • In a large bowl, mix all the dals and wash them properly. Soak the mixed dals in water for about an hour.
  • In a pressure cooker, heat water and add the mixed dals. Add turmeric powder and salt to it.
  • in a pan, heat ghee and add asafetida and cumin seeds. Once the seeds sputters, add onions, garlic and green chilly and fry for two minute.
  • Add tomatoes and fry for about a minute till they get mushy. Next, add red chilly powder.
  • Put the above made mixture to the dal. Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook on low heat till the dal gets soft.
  • The delicious Mixed Dal is ready to serve with steamed rice or hot rotis.
