  • 5 pounds Beef Cubes
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp White Pepper
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 1 large Onion (sliced)
  • ½ cup Water
  • 1 cup Cream
  • ¾ cup Red Wine
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
How to make Oksesteg:
  • Season meat with salt and white pepper.
  • Heat butter in frying pan and sauté meat, until brown on both sides.
  • Transfer into a roasting pan and place onion slices and garlic over it.
  • Pour in the water, cream, and red wine.
  • Bake at 320 degrees F until the meat turns tender, for about 3 hours.
  • Add more red wine if the bottom of the roasting pan dries out.
  • Transfer into a platter.
  • Combine the flour with the remaining liquid from roasting pan to make the gravy and pour over the meat.
  • Serve hot.
