Pastry Apple Bars Recipe
Ingredients:
• 8 Cups tart apples, peeled and sliced
• 1/2 Cup milk
• 1 Cup shortening
• 1 Cup cornflakes cereal
• 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
• 1 Egg white
• 1 Egg yolk
• 1 tsp Salt
• 1/3 Cup sifted confectioners' sugar
• 1/2 Cup white sugar
• 2-1/2 Cups all-purpose flour
How to make Pastry Apple Bars:
In a large bowl stir the flour and the salt.
Cut in shortening till the mixture takes coarse crumbs.
Beat slightly egg yolk in a glass and pour milk to make 2/3 cup liquid tota.
Divide dough into half.
Roll half the dough to an 18 x 12 inch rectangle onto a floured surface; now fit into the baking pan.
Dot with corn flake cereal; and top with apples.
Mix cinnamon and sugar; dot over apples.
Roll the left over dough to a 16 x 12 inch rectangle; and put over apples.
Seal the edges; cut in the top for steam to get off.
Bake at 375 degrees F until golden brown.
Cool on a wire rack.
