  • 1 ounce Yeast
  • ½ cup Milk
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 3½ cups Flour
  • 1 medium Egg Yolk
  • A pinch of Salt
  • ½ cup Vegetable Oil

  • 2/3 cup Poppy Seeds
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 3 tbsp Vanilla
  • Cinnamon (to taste)
How to make Poppy Seed Buns:
  • Combine together yeast, milk, sugar, flour, egg yolk, salt and vegetable oil in a large bowl.
  • Knead well to form soft dough. Let the dough rise until double in size.
  • Divide the dough into small buns.
  • Mix together poppy seeds, milk, sugar, ginger, butter, vanilla and cinnamon.
  • Roll out the buns and spread the filling in the center of the bun.
  • Fold the bun over and seal securely.
  • Allow the buns to rise.
  • Bake the buns at 325 °F for 20 minutes.
  • Serve hot.
