  • 2 cups Onion (diced)
  • 2 tbsp Ginger (grated)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup Red Lentils (washed)
  • 1 tsp Cumin (Jeera)
  • 1 tsp Coriander (Dhania)(ground)
  • 1 can Tomatoes (diced)
  • 4 cups Chicken Stock
  • ½ cup Yogurt (Curd)
  • Little Cilantro (chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

    For The Spiced Oil:
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 1 Habanero Chili
  • ½ tsp Turmeric
  • ½ tsp Cumin
How to make Red Lentil Soup:
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the onion until it is transparent.
  • Put in ginger and garlic and saute it for 2-3 minutes.
  • Mix in cumin with coriander. Pour in tomatoes, chicken stock, and lentils and cook it covered for 15-20 minutes. Flavor it with salt & pepper to taste.
  • Heat oil in a pan to make spiced oil.
  • Add habanero, turmeric and cumin, stir for a minute and take it off heat.
  • Serve the soup hot with yogurt in the center and top up with little spiced oil & parsley.
