- 1 pint scalded Milk
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 2½ tbsp Bread Flour
- ½ tsp Salt
- 4 tbsp Cold Water
- 6 slices dry Toast
- Combine water with flour until smooth, thin paste forms.
- Place milk in a saucepan over low heat and add paste to the saucepan, stirring well.
- Simmer for 20 minutes, covered. Add salt and butter. Remove from the heat.
- Dip toast slices one by one in milk mixture. Remove when soft to a serving dish.
- Pour remaining mixture all over the dipped toast.
