- The education system in Italy is most interesting. This is because education is free and compulsory for eight years. Thus, for children between the ages of 6 and 14, it is completely free and paid for by the Government of Italy.
- Education in Italy begins with primary school. It lasts for 5 years after which the toddler is ready for secondary school.
- Secondary school in Italian is called 'Scuole Medie'. This type of schooling is further divided into- Medie Inferiori and Medie Superiori. If you compare with the rest of the world, Medie Inferiori is equivalent to middle school grades which lasts 3 years long. Medie Superiori corresponds to the secondary school level that is another five years.
- Secondary schools in Italy give students the privilege to choose their profession and career.
