Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico or UNAM,
founded in 1551, is the largest institution of higher education in Latin
America. Considered among the best in Latin America, Spain and Portugal,
the university has approximate 270,000 students, making it one of the
largest universities in the world. The university has done commendable
research in technology, science, humanities, and arts. It is the only
university in Mexico with three Nobel Laureates among its former
students
Study Programmes
National Autonomous University of Mexico is an institution with large
number of programs recognized by Mexico's educational authorities. UNAM
has a wide diversity of graduate programs in three areas:
specialization, master's and doctoral degrees. These programmes are
categorised in four broad areas: physical sciences, mathematics and
engineering; biological and health sciences; the social sciences;
humanities and the arts.
Study programmes of UNAM include doctorate in chemistry; master's and
doctorate in ocean sciences and limnology; master's and doctorate in
biology; master's and doctorate in health sciences and medicine;

(neurobiology); doctorate in biomedical sciences; master's and doctorate

Campuses and Affiliate Institutions
UNAM has several campuses in Mexico city. Central University City
Campus in Mexico, the foremost one, is a fine example of 20th-century
modernism blending urbanism, architecture, engineering, landscape design
and fine arts with references to local conventions. UNAM also holds
control of the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria (ENP) (National Preparatory
School), and the Colegio de Ciencias y Humanidades (CCH), which consist
of several high schools, spread around Mexico City.
