Universidad Popular de la Chontalpa or the UPCh, as
it is popularly known, is a public university located in Tabasco state
of Mexico. Founded in 1995, it is the first university in the country
established by a municipal government of a city. The university was
registered as a national institution of higher level education.
Approximate 3000 students are enrolled in the university.
