Ingredients:
  • For Filling
  • 1 kg Mutton or Beef (minced, including the fat)
  • 3½ tsp Salt
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (crushed)
  • Water (to mix)

    For Dough
  • 4½ cups Flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • Water (to mix)
  • Cooking Oil (for frying)
How to make Huushuur:
  • Mix together minced meat, salt, onion, garlic and water to form a firm paste. Keep aside.
  • Combine flour and salt.
  • Add water and knead to form dough.
  • Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each one into a cylinder, about 3 cm in diameter.
  • Cut each cylinder into 4 cm long cubes.
  • Squash each cube into a circle and roll out into 8 to 10 cm wide circle, keeping the center thicker than the edges.
  • Place some meat mixture in the center of the circle.
  • Fold the circle, removing the air, and pinch into a twist pattern. Repeat with other pieces.
  • Heat oil in a wok.
  • Fry 3 to 4 pieces at one time, for 2 minutes on each side, till they turn brown and the meat is well cooked.
  • Remove and serve hot.
Suggestions:
Serve huushuur with tomato ketchup or soy sauce.
