  • 300 gm Malt
  • 600 ml Water
  • 500 ml lukewarm Buttermilk
  • Salt to taste
  • 50 gm Yeast
  • 150 ml Molasses
  • 800 gm Rye Flour
  • 5 cups White Flour
  • 75 gm Soft Butter
  • Hot Water as required
How to make Malt Bread:
  • Take malt with water in a bowl and keep it to the side for 1 hr.
  • Mix in buttermilk with salt, yeast, molasses and rye flour.
  • Pour into white flour and knead into firm dough. Smear the dough well with butter.
  • Shape the dough into 3-4 balls and prick holes on the balls using fork.
  • Set the oven at 200°C and bake it for 1 hr.
  • Blend molasses with very little water and brush over breads while baking.
  • Serve it with hot tea or coffee.
