| • | Take a cheesecloth bag and loosely tie the spices in it.

| • | Add these spices to the mixture of wine and sugar in a kettle.

| • | Heat the mixture. Bring to boil and reduce heat to low.

| • | Cook for 5-10 minutes.

| • | Peel off the pears. Core and halve them.
|
| • | Drop them in simmering mixture.

| • | Simmer for about 10 minutes and remove from the flame.

| • | Allow the wine to steep at least for 20 minutes.

| • | Poached Pears are ready to serve warm or chilled. |
