  • For Dough
  • 1¼ lbs All-purpose Flour
  • 2½ oz Vegetable Oil
  • 2½ oz Warm Milk
  • ½ tbsp Baking Powder
  • 5 oz Warm Water
  • 1/3 tsp Salt

    For Spinach Filling
  • 20 oz Spinach, chopped
  • 3 oz Lemon Juice
  • 1½ oz Canola Oil
  • 1½ tbsp Dry Parsley
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
How to make Lebanese Spinach Pie:
  • For Dough
  • Start with sieving the all-purpose flour in a bowl and then add all the ingredients (listed for dough) in it.
  • Now, slowly mix the ingredients and add warm water as required, to make dough.
  • Knead the dough into a ball, on a flat surface area, till it turns smooth and elastic.
  • Form the dough into a ball and then put it in a lightly floured bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth, so that it does not become dry.
  • Let it stay in a warm place for about 45 minutes or till the dough is double in size.
  • Roll it out again and cut it into 3 inch diameter circles.

    For Spinach Filling
  • Drain all the juice from spinach until almost dry.
  • Now, add all the ingredients (listed for filling) to it and mix thoroughly. Set aside.

    For Pie
  • Put a spoon of spinach mixture in the centre of the rolled-out dough circles.
  • Now, fold the sides to form a triangle and pinch the sides to seal it. Repeat it till all the pies are assembled.
  • Place them on greased cookie sheets and bake at a temperature of 350 degrees F, for 20 minutes or till the pies are slightly brown.
  • Your delicious pies are ready to be served.
