Sannas also popularly called as rice cakes and are generally eaten in Southern part of India. This dish makes a tasty and an extremely healthy breakfast. A must have for all you health freaks out there.

Ingredients:
  • 250 gm Rice
  • 500 ml Toddy
  • 1 Coconut
  • 20 gm Sugar
  • Salt to taste
How to make Sannas:
  • Wash and soak the rice overnight in water.
  • Drain and grind rice finely with toddy.
  • Mix grated coconut with it and make a thick mixture.
  • Now add sugar, cover and place it in a warm place for about 3 hours or till the batter ferments.
  • Add salt and mix it properly.
  • Pour the batter into shallow round moulds and steam it for about 15 minutes.

I would like to make sanas. One of the ingredients is toddy. On the internet there ar various definitions of toddy: mainly sweet palm-wine and palm-wine without alcohol. Please tell me which toddy should be used and alternative if no toddy is used.
