Makhlouta Recipe

  • 1 cup Chickpeas (cooked)
  • 1 cup Black Beans (cooked)
  • 1/2 cup Lentils
  • 9 cups Chicken Stock
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1/2 cup Bulgur
  • 1/4 cup Rice
  • 1 large Onion (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
How to make Makhlouta:
  • Add lentils to the stock and bring to a boil.
  • Add in bulgur and rice and allow to simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Sauté onions in oil, until they are browned.
  • Add chickpeas, beans, onions and their oils to the lentils.
  • Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.
  • Season with salt and serve.
  • Serve hot.
