Recipe Type Veg.
Ingredients:
  • 100 gms Beans
  • 50 gms Lentil
  • 150 gms Bitter gourd
  • 150 gms Ridge gourd
  • 150 gms Parval
  • 150 gms Pumkin
  • 4 tsp Khus Khus
  • 4 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 100 ml Coconut milk
  • 1/2 Cup oil
  • Salt to taste
How to make Shukto:
  • Grind Khus Khus and mustard seeds to make a paste.
  • Cut all the vegetables into sticks.
  • Heat the oil and fry all the vegetables till it turns soft.
  • Add coconut milk and some water.
  • Cook till all the vegetables turn tender.
  • Now fry Lentil till it turns brown.
  • Mix it with the vegetables.
  • Shukto is ready.

yes Jyoti is right... fried bitter gourd is added to other vegetables at the end..and what about addign radhuni...its an indispensible ingredient for shukto....and it seems drumsticks (shojne data), Brinjal(begun) and patato & fried bori are missing

This recipe is incomplete and it is not the correct way to make shukto. The bitter gourd or karela is cut into fine slices and fried and added at the end of the dish.

What happens to the mustard seed and khus khus paste? This is a very different recipe from the one my MIL taught me. She uses a little maida flour to thicken the gravy and radhuni seeds.
