History

Programs

School of Science
The School of Science offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs under six departments including the Department of Biology, Department of Physics, Department of Brain and Cognitive Science, Department of Mathematics, Department of Chemistry, and Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences. In addition to the core degree programs, there are several interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs as well.

School of Architecture And Planning
This school has four departments including the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Media Laboratory, Center for Real Estate, and Department of Architecture. These departments offer different undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. programs in architecture, building technology, city planning, media arts and sciences, real estate, real estate development and so on.

School of Engineering
The School of Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate programs in electrical engineering and computer science, aeronautics and astronautics, biological engineering, chemical engineering, computation for design and optimization, engineering systems, etc. The school also offers professional education in system design and management for professional executives.

School of Arts, Humanities And Social Sciences
This school offers various undergraduate and graduate programs in economics, history and anthropology, political science, philosophy, linguistics, and science writing.

College of Health Sciences And Technology
This school offers graduate degree programs in medical sciences, medical engineering and medical physics, bioinformatics and integrative genomics. Here, you can also do a Masters in biomedical engineering, speech and hearing, bioscience and technology. Sloan School of Management
The management school of MIT has intense management programs that have been developed with a focus on producing future world leaders. Admission Details
To enroll in a graduate program, an applicant must have earned a bachelor's degree from a college, technical institute or equivalent. Undergraduate students in their final year of study can also apply for graduate programs in MIT provided their final results and degrees are awarded before admission procedures are completed. Specific admission requirements vary from department to department, so applicants are advised to verify with their respective departments. International applicants need to submit the results of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (ToEFL) along with their applications. Financial assistance is also offered to students looking to pursue higher studies at MIT.
