The basic structure of education consists of twelve years of basic academics (six years of primary education and six years of secondary education). Secondary education is divided into two parts - lower secondary and upper secondary education. After completing his/her basic education, a student can proceed to pursue his/her higher studies. Higher education in Bangkok is controlled by the Ministry of University Affairs. Higher education is offered through both private and public universities.

Admission
As per a new rule, students have to qualify an aptitude test to get into any higher education institute. Students can attempt the aptitude test thrice, and the best of the three results will be considered.
