British fashion designer Stella McCartney is
one of the few who got instant success in this field. She graduated from
St Martins College of Art & Design with flying colors as supermodels
Kate Moss, Yasmin Le Bon and Naomi Campbell cat walked in her designer
creations. Tokio, a London boutique, bought her whole collection and the
show made headlines of all the major newspapers. As the chief designer
at Paris fashion house Chloe, she proved herself to be commercially
successful.
In 2001, fashion designer Stella McCartney entered into joint
venture with the Gucci Group and stepped into the perfume market with
her own signature label in 2003. Stella's father Sir Paul McCartney was
a former Beatle while he mother Linda was a famous Jewish-American
photographer, musician and vegetarian food entrepreneur.
When critics voiced their suspicions that it was the fame of her
parents that helped her career, the famous Vogue magazine cajoled her by
saying that "her first collection for the house Chloe, shown in
Paris in October 1997, quickly dispelled any doubts about her talent."
Few people know that McCartneys tried their best to let their children
have a taste of the real world and did not hire nannies and bodyguards
for them. It was love of family and friends that they had in ample and
Stella learned to work to fulfill her desires right from the childhood.
Known for her funky and feminine designs, Stella breathed new life in
the fashion of late nineties. She even put Gucci on hold for her stance
on animal rights until she was allowed to have control of material along
with designs.
She married publisher Alasdhair Willis in September 2003 and stars such
as Gwyneth Paltrow, Pierce Brosnan and Madonna attended her wedding. She
gave birth to her first child, Miller Alisdhair James Willis, in
February 2005. With the looks of a model, she has designed apparels for
the likes of Liv Tyler, Madonna, and Cameron Diaz. With a cheerful and
friendly persona, earned the VH1/Vogue Fashion and Music Designer of the
Year award in 2000 and has her chain of stores in New York and London.
Her most famous creation is perhaps the wedding dress of Madonna, which
she designed in 2000.
