Feng Shui For Business

Feng shui is an ancient Chinese art of placement. Feng shui believes in the fact that placement of objects can have a favourable or unfavourable affect on your life and the environment around. This art is based on the flow of energy in the universe called chi and on the patterns of 'yin' and 'yang'. Feng shui actually stands for "wind "and "water" respectively. It is believed that it is through wind and water that chi flows through nature. Feng shui art puts forward guidelines for us to be able to make arrangements at home or at the work place to balance out chi and to offset negative elements with positive adjustments. It is believed that feng shui makes use of the five elements i.e. water, wood, fire, earth and metal to synchronize your surroundings for maximum benefits. • The art believes that for chi, the life energy to flow inside your work place, tables and chairs should be arranged in a harmonious position.
  • The art also suggests that by placing a dragon facing towards the window or door, on the right hand side of your work desk, you can grow to become the leader in the industry. This belief is derived from the fact that a dragon always chases a pearl.

However, plants with nice rounded leaves to counter the metal influences are replicas of growth and prosperity and are ideal for your office space.
  • If you notice your staff taking too many sick leaves, it is advisable for you to get a metal wind chime made out of six - seven metal rods and about a foot long. You can even get in a metal sculpture or a hanging crystal sphere to disperse off the negative energy causing illness at your work place.
  • Avoid having the main door opening towards your table, since chi or positive energy can hit you directly resulting in bad luck. It might also create more obstacles in your work.
  • Avoid placing the photocopy machine near the main door, since heat near the main door can make chi hot and lead to its dispersal.
  • Make it a point to not place an empty vase near the main door, since it will suck in chi when it enters your office. It will leave nothing behind for the environment to benefit from the energy.
  • Make it a point to not clutter your office. Desks should be kept clean and organised. Disorganisation and clutter is a demotivating force when it comes to down to chi.
  • Plants depict growth and life since they are the natural elements of wood. Therefore, it is a good idea to bring in nice rounded leaf plants to counter the influence of metal in your office.
