Universidad Veracruzana or University of Veracruz,
founded in 1944, is a public autonomous university located in the
Mexican state of Veracruz. One of the leading provincial universities in
Mexico, it offers higher education in variety of streams. Universidad
Veracruzana holds that community engagement is the essence of the three
main academic functions of a university: teaching, research and
extension. The university has more than 58,000 students enrolled.
Programmes of the university are accredited by Secretaría de
Educación Pública.
Study Programs
Spread throughout the state, Universidad Veracruzana runs nineteen
research institutes and seventy-four professional schools which offer
fifty-three undergraduate and eighty-two graduate programs. The
university offers Associate's degrees, Bachelor's degrees, Master's and
Doctorates. Streams of courses offered by the university are Arts &
Humanities, Business & Social Science, Engineering, Language &
Cultural Studies, Medicine & Health, and Science & Technology.
In accordance with the level of mastery in Spanish, the students can
participate in university programs in different frameworks.
Semesters or Year Abroad
Students who secure admission in this program attend regular courses at
under graduate or graduate level at the university. These courses could
be part of their study program at the home university. Knowledge of
Spanish language of the students should be high enough to comprehend the

Immersion Program
The program helps international students in understanding Mexican
culture and facilitates the acquisition of the Spanish language. The
program fulfils the individual needs of each student. Any students who
wishes to learn the language can join the immersion program.
International Study Program
This program offers academic and administrative services to students
who wish to undertake research or in depth study of a specific topic.
The program comprises 20 hours for which two credits are granted.
Internship Program
This program gives international students practical experience in the
fields of health, education and business. Medical practice is provided
at the university hospital, education practice is given at local schools
and business internships take place in collaboration with various
businesses.
US Studies Program
US Studies is for the students interested in the knowledge of the
United States, a neighbour of Mexico. The program is divided into four
base areas of study: Political Science, Cultural Studies, Language and
Literature and History and Geography. Students may choose courses that
better suit their interests and needs.
