University Veracruzana

Universidad Veracruzana or the University of Veracruz is a public university located at Veracruz, a picturesque city in Mexico. This autonomous University was established in 1944 and now is one of the best universities in Mexico. The academic organization of the University comprises schools, research institutes and higher education centers. The University has a vision to generate knowledge and preserve culture and is continuously working towards achieving that. The academic activities of the University are coordinated by the 'Academic Secretariat and Vice Rectors office'. The University provides educational programs which are organized under various departments like Arts, Biology, Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences, Economics & Business Administration, Liberal Arts, etc. Research activities of the Universities are controlled and coordinated by the Department of Research. There are more than 50 schools, 28 institutes and research centers, one language center, a foreign language department, children's musical induction center, arts workshop, self-access language learning center, a foreign students school, an advanced technology lab, a school hospital, library services and an information unit under the University. The University is associated with the North American Mobility Project which is a transactional project that is colligated with the Georgia Southern University and the Wilfrid Laurier University.

Sports Department
The University has a highly active sports department that supports baseball, basketball, football, volley ball, hand ball, tae kwon do, tennis, aerobics, etc.

University Homes
These are the houses of the University that provide services to highly marginalized regions. The house is a space of convergence that favors dialogues on social priorities. These houses motivate youth to participate in social activities and promote participatory rural appraisal methodologies and community development. The University has seven homes in indigenous, rural and urban areas.

The University also formed a college of social that acts as a tool to boost and elaborate the sustainable development process of marginalized communities.

Admission is based on the results of the entrance examination as well as academic scores.

Financial Aid
The University of Veracruz offers scholarships and financial aids for its students. Eligible students can apply for aid with all necessary documents. The aids are:
  • Mobility aids for students enrolled in PhD programs
  • 'Grants of the Ministry of Education for official Master Studies' can help a student to cover enrolment fees, accommodation and travel expenses, books, and miscellaneous payments.
  • 'Grants for University Studies, Regional Ministry for Education' covers 100% of the enrolment fee but all of this is based on certain terms and conditions.
  • Loans, Ministry for Education and Science is intended to help students to complete their official bachelor's or Master's programs and to enhance their job prospects. The loan meets a financial liability that ranges from 2500 to 6000€.
